Four Inola students attended leadership training for the IHS chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
The training was held on Wednesday, September 16, at Glenpool High school. Officers attending included Samantha Davis, Chloe Russell, Wren Weaver, and Brynlee Pratt.
“The Lead Conferences were designed as another piece of leadership training for Oklahoma FCCLA,” Phillips said. “Chapter officers should leave the conference with the tools needed to move their chapter and its members from good to great.”
State officers led the workshops, which focused on building a positive personal brand, officer etiquette, using the FCCLA Planning Process, building FCCLA membership, and conducting community outreach projects. Kelly Barnes was the keynote speaker.
Oklahoma FCCLA serves approximately 21,000 members in 400 local chapters in junior and senior high schools and on technology center campuses. Known as the "ultimate leadership experience," participation in FCCLA national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.
FCCLA’s mission is “to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education,” according to the National FCCLA website. It is the only CareerTech student organization with family as its central focus.
FCCLA is one of seven CareerTech student organizations affiliated with CareerTech programs. It is affiliated with family and consumer sciences. The other six CTSOs are SkillsUSA (trade and industrial education), FFA (agricultural education), DECA (marketing education), HOSA (health careers education), Business Professionals of America (business and information technology education) and Technology Student Association (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
