Dillon Cantrell

Inola Middle School student Dillon Cantrell has earned a spot on the Oklahoma National Junior High Rodeo team after an outstanding performance at the Oklahoma Junior High Rodeo Association Finals.

Competing among the top 15 junior high team ropers in the state, Dillon and his roping partner had an exceptional week in competition, earning two first-place finishes and one fourth-place finish. Their strong performances secured the team roping average championship and officially punched their ticket to the National Junior High Rodeo Finals.

Dillon enters the national competition as the No. 3 heeler in the state of Oklahoma.

The National Junior High Rodeo Association only advances the top 15 contestants in each event to the Oklahoma state finals, and from there, only the top four teams in the entire state qualify for the national team, making the accomplishment especially impressive. Dillon and his partner finished just six points behind the No. 2 team in the standings.

Dillon will now compete at the National Junior High Rodeo Finals June 21–27 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The event features the top four team roping teams from every state, as well as teams from four other countries.

Inola Public Schools congratulates Dillon on this outstanding accomplishment and wishes him the best of luck at the national finals.
