Congratulations to the Inola Middle School Academic Team! They went up against the #3 ranked team in the nation with a virtual format “for all the marbles!” They were a question behind after 1st qtr, roared back and absolutely dominated the next two quarters. The other team pulled ahead in the last four questions of the game.
BUT they placed high enough to earn an invitation to Nationals Next year!
National Academic Championship Chicago middle school division: Inola made the finals playoffs! They finished 4/6 today, coming up just a little short in their only two losses! This placed them 5th of the 14 middle school teams here in Chicago and qualified them to participate in the virtual playoffs (another 14 team bracket) next Saturday, June 15) for all the marbles!
Academic National Championship Chicago JV division. Coach Carol Holland remarked, "I am so very proud of these tough competitors! They were the only all-freshmen team vs sophomore/ juniors. The final scores don’t tell the true story but in 4 of the 6 rounds they were tied or ahead multiple times."
IHS/IMS National Academic Championship Chicago Day 3! So proud of these two teams! 8th graders are undefeated so far and will finish tomorrow afternoon (6/9)! They got 10/10 questions correct in the 70 second round in game 2, very rare occurrence at nat’ls, and earned an extra 20 points! Very impressive! 9th graders are competing in the JV category. They’re very good but are playing against teams of 10th and 11th graders. They lost two close games today but have 3 more tomorrow and should do well.
Our MS & JV Academic teams are in Chicago competing at Nationals!
MS went 3-0 today (6/8/24); JV was 0-3. Both teams play 3 more games tomorrow (6/9/24).
