STEM Boat Race Winners

Annual STEM Boat Race Makes a Splash at Pryor YMCA

Pryor, OK — April 16, 2025 — The annual STEM Boat Race was held on Wednesday, April 16, at the Pryor YMCA, bringing together students, educators, families, and community members for an exciting day of competition.

Hosted by the Pryor YMCA in collaboration with local schools and STEM educators, the event challenged students to design, build, and race their own boats using science, technology, engineering, and math principles. Participants of all ages showcased their creativity and teamwork as their homemade vessels were put to the test in the YMCA pool.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to apply classroom knowledge in a fun and engaging way,” said Todd Dixon, Inola STEM Director. “Watching their ideas literally set sail is incredibly rewarding—for the kids and the community.”

Winners were recognized in multiple categories, including speed, design, innovation, and teamwork. The event not only highlighted STEM education but also encouraged critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among participants.

The overall winners were Coach Walker's 5th Hour 6th grade STEM Team (pictured above).
