Inola High School proudly opened the doors to its brand-new weight room on July 8, 2025, marking a major milestone in a wave of upgrades earned through T-Mobile’s Friday Night Lights national competition. This exciting addition is part of a multi-million dollar prize package awarded to Inola for its student-led campaign that brought national attention and support on Instagram.
The Friday Night Lights competition challenged schools across the nation to showcase their pride and school spirit through a social media rally. Thanks to the incredible effort and unity of Inola students, faculty, and community members, the Longhorns secured the top prize—an athletic facilities makeover and much more.
In addition to the new weight room, the prize package includes a $100,000 grant, a state-of-the-art tech scoreboard, enhanced 5G network coverage on campus, and a high-energy tailgate experience planned for a home football game this fall.
Coach Jerry Jones, who oversees the strength and conditioning program at Inola High School, played a pivotal role in the development of the new facility. “This weight room is a game-changer for our athletes,” said Coach Jones. “It’s not just about lifting weights—it’s about building discipline, confidence, and a stronger school culture. I’m proud to have been involved in the process and can’t wait to see our students thrive in this new space.”
The modernized weight room features new equipment designed to accommodate a wide range of training needs for all sports and student-athletes. The upgrade is expected to positively impact athletic performance, student health, and school morale.
Inola Public Schools would like to thank T-Mobile for this opportunity and extends its gratitude to the entire Longhorn community for making this victory possible.
