IMS Retirees

Inola Middle School is celebrating the careers and lasting legacies of two longtime educators as Mrs. Melissa Powers and Mrs. Carol Holland retire following decades of service in education and to Inola Public Schools.

Mrs. Melissa Powers retires after 44 years in education, including 27 years at Inola. Throughout her career, Melissa has filled countless roles in support of students and staff. She has coached multiple sports, driven a bus, and faithfully kept the official scorebook at basketball games. Many at IMS can say that at some point, Melissa was their coach, bus driver, mentor, or supervisor.

Melissa devoted her heart to Inola Middle School and impacted generations of students through her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Her influence helped shape the culture and success of the school for decades.

“Melissa, thank you for the lives you’ve touched, the example you’ve set, and the legacy you leave behind,” said IMS Principal Patrick Mullen. “You have earned this retirement, and while you will certainly be missed, your impact will continue for years to come.”

Mrs. Carol Holland retires after 28 years at Inola Middle School, where she spent nearly three decades shaping the lives of students and building one of the area’s most successful academic programs. Under her leadership, students achieved state championships and qualified for national competitions.

Carol poured her heart, passion, and energy into her students and school community. Her dedication and enthusiasm inspired generations of students and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting mark on Inola Middle School.

“Carol has made a huge impact on generations of kids and colleagues, and Inola Middle School won’t be the same without her,” Mullen shared. “She will be greatly missed.”

Inola Public Schools congratulates both Mrs. Powers and Mrs. Holland on their remarkable careers and thanks them for their years of faithful service, leadership, and dedication to students.
