Inola Middle School and High School cross country runners traveled to Afton to compete in the Cleora Meet on Monday, September 14.. The meet served as a qualifier for the upcoming Regional Cross Country Meet, giving Inola athletes an opportunity to compete for a chance to advance to the next level of postseason competition.
Several Longhorn runners turned in impressive performances at the meet.
For Inola Middle School, 8th grader Aiden Siqueiros placed 3rd with a time of 9:09, while his brother, 7th grader Christian Siqueiros, finished 12th with a time of 9:45.
Inola High School junior Yazmeen Sonora placed 6th with a time of 14:56, and fellow junior Isabel Ambriz finished 19th with a time of 16:16.
The Inola boys also had an outstanding showing. IHS senior Jacob Spiri captured 1st place with a time of 20:32, followed closely by IHS junior Sawyer Tulk, who placed 2nd with a time of 20:40.
The Regional Cross Country Meet will be held October 17 in Henryetta, where Inola runners will compete for the opportunity to continue their postseason journey.
